Mr. Houlihan is a trial lawyer. In his career, he has been lead counsel in more than 95 jury trials and briefed and argued more than 75 appeals in both state and federal court. He is a member of the New York Bar where he practiced for 14 years and a member of the Florida Bar, where he has practiced since 1982. He was a federal prosecutor for 13 years: 10 years in New York and 3 years as the Chief Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida. Thereafter, Jerry was an Equity Partner at Steel, Hector & Davis (1985-1991) and a Shareholder at Greenberg Traurig (1991-1995) in Miami, Florida.
To his adversaries, he is tough, thorough, creative and formidable. His reputation is based on his proven ability to deliver practical, accurate, legal advice that survives judicial scrutiny. While not a patent lawyer, he has a scientific background and is capable of understanding the complex nature of the pharmaceutical industry; the rules and regulations of the FDA and has an excellent knowledge of sophisticated patent practice. This knowledge and experience has been invaluable in patent litigation against the brand-name drug companies.
